About the exhibition
A nationally touring selection of portraits from the National Portrait Gallery's 2014 Adam Portraiture Awards. Showcasing an enormous range of contemporary portraiture from throughout New Zealand, the Adam Portraiture Award is New Zealand’s premier portrait competition and exhibition. The awards were judged by Dr Nicola Kalinsky, Director of The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham. This exhibition is a fascinating mixture of New Zealand characters – old and young, famous and family, serious and entertaining. It’s also a great exhibition for studying the many painting techniques and styles that can be employed in portraiture. It features the work of two Marlborough artists; Caroline della Porta and Mieke Hilhorst.
